World of Randor
News
July 10, 2008
One month anniversary of the creation of Randor! I'm announcing this because I, um, forgot about the Randor day party we were gonna hold...
Again. I have to talk to Frost, but I'm gonna lobby for a Randor celebration...maybe a week or two from now. Annother thing to get us more members :-)

July 9, 2008
We've got 17 members! *danss*
Be our 18th! Just, like...sign up and stuff.

July 8, 2008
Where hath everyone gonst? Lol. I think that the user's activity mimics the admins, and I was away this past week due to relatives visiting.

July 3, 2008
Well, we've got 16 members. I'm sad to say that not all of them are as active as I had hoped. Still, there's only a couple of people who haven't been on in the last few days, so that's not too terrible. Actually, it's pretty good. JUST SIGN UP, GUESTS

Happy Canada Day, for those of us (ahem) that live there! I know this message is a day late, but I was busy watching the parade and hanging out with Frost :-)

Whoof, unlucky time for Randor - both admins were unable to be active. Well, I'm back now, and Frost should be back in a day or so, so...
Just a note to the peeps - I'll probably be less active during the weekend, for various reasons.

Hiya everyone! This is Remarque. Just saying that the draak farms are up and running, we're really looking for new members, those of you who advertise, and so on.
We've got 12 members, and I'm really looking forwards to getting more.

June 24, 2008
This is just a notice to say that on Thursday, I (Frost) am leaving for a few days. I should be back Tuesday or so. It's like a family reunion to bury my grandmother's ashes next to my grandfather's. So, try not to wither from lack of Frost, mkay? :)

June 23, 2008
Due to a brief hiatus in my own activity (I had a cousin over for the weekend and couldn't go on) we got slightly less active. Members and guests alike will be happy to hear that we're no longer in the slightest bit inactive - go ussss!

June 18, 2008
We've launched a draak breeding program! Checker out.

June 17, 2008
Nine members! Go ussss!!!

We now have two staff members - myself, and our co-admin Frost Spirit!

We've launched the site! It took hours and hours of backbreaking work, but I think I'm finally happy with it.
I'll have to make a better banner, and I'll have to make us an affiliation banner. Then I'll have to advertise *shudders*.
I'm finally more-or-less happy with the skin! Sure, it'll probably get refined a little...OK, a lot, but it'll stay pretty much the way it is.
There aren't enough resources yet. Must fix.
...But first, I must go to bed. *yawns* It's 3 in the morning here, and I'm busy tomorrow.
Welcome
Welcome to the world of Randor!
We're a very unique writing forum - we share tecniques, ideas, etc, but we also have our very own little world - Randor.
The world of Randor is highly user-created: that is, I gave the basic idea and some of the places, landmarks, races, etc, but users created the rest!
The result is a rich, thriving community, with a flexible base for toning your writing skills.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy.

The Raven
by Remarque

Chapter 1
Shelah the baker's daughter ran in streets of a Randoorian city, bare feet flapping against the hard cobblestones.
It was Randor Day, and the celebrations were rampant. However, she didn't have anything to celebrate.

She ran to her father's bakery, smelling the sweet scent of the bread and pastries. She knew it would not be open for long. She knew it could not be open for long.

The chief of the Malyds - a group of people sworn to protect the king - stalked down the street. He knew the girl had come this way.

Shelah burst through the heavy wooden door of the bakery, panting.
Her father noticed her flushed face, and sweaty palms, and asked 'What is it, Shelah? What happened?'
In the space of a moment, she had explained everything.

xxx

The chief was still walking forcefully towards the bakery, head held high. His eyes were cold and hard, and his large hands, scarred though they be, were clenched into tight fists.
Rapping on the door but bursting through it without waiting, he entered the bakery, his dark cloak swirling out around him.
The baker emerged from behind the shop, flustered.
"Hello...are you looking for something in particular, or can I recommend - "
"I don't want any of your goods, you foolish man! Where is the girl?"
Almost sighing in relief, the baker asked, "What girl?"
The chief was now so angry that his white teeth showed. "What girl? What girl? Your daughter! The wench who stole by wife's gold ring, which, by the way, is worth more than you and your daughter combined!"
"I'm afraid there is no girl here. I was never married."
This wasn't an outright lie - the baker never had been married. Shelah was still his daughter, however.
Outraged, the chief drew close to the baker, using his immense size as an advantage over the smaller, weaker, and more portly baker. "I want to know where the girl is, and I want to know where she is now." The last few words were little more than a hiss.
Fear sparked once in the baker's eyes. This was not going as planned.
"What - what did she do, sir?"
This was apparently the last straw for the maddened chief. Picking up the baker by the throat, he shook him like a doll, exclaiming, "Have you lost your wits? I just told you - she stole my wife's ring, and I want it back!"
"Well, I don't have a daughter, sir, so if you'll please drop me - "
He never got to finish. The chief was spitting mad, and threw him across the shop, where he hit one of the mica windows - they were his pride and joy, until he broke them - and went searching through the shop for Shelah.
Of course, he didn't find her. She had run out the back way as soon as she and her father had gotten everything organised.
She had run to the woods, where her only family would be a cranky old raven. Now that cranky old raven was her only family, for her father didn't move from that spot until a former customer dragged him out, a day later. And her mother was dead.

---This is a one-shot, peoples! I hope you enjoy. Sorry about the melencholy tone - it's what I felt like writing at the moment, and this writing forum had to have SOMETHING on it, right?
Don't worry, I'm working on a longer, better, less sad one :-)
